Some users require AC4 or AC5 rating for home purpose as they think strong wearing resistance means strong durability. In fact, things are not like this.

For home purpose, AC3 is enough. The durability of laminate flooring depends not only on wearing resistance but also on impact resistance, swelling rate, stain resistance, moisture resistance, fading resistance, and fire proof. For example, heavy furniture such as piano can’t be put on laminate flooring if the impact resistance is no good. Moisture resistance is an important factor for durability. The product can’t be used in some heavy damp place if the moisture resistance of plank is bad.

Most abrasion happens on the joints of planks. There is height difference between two neighbouring locked planks. There is no wear resistance layer in the higher part in the joints. Abrasion is easy to happen if the height difference is too big. Some sellers draw users’ attention to wear resistance to make users neglect other default of his products.
