Hello,
I have been interning at my first job now for about 1 year. I have started getting work for my company through a large contractor that I know. So far we've done 1 job (which we're probably going to lose $ on)... but they love us and have started getting us involved in a lot more long-term projects with them. (prob. averaging $2-4 mill construction cost each project so far)
My question is... is it common for employees (who bring work) to get a commission for the projects that come from it?
If so, what is the proper amount?
Since I'm new to this... I don't want to come across greedy.
Thanks! |

Maybe your employers will take the loss from the last project out of your wage packet
Many of the directors and associates at my office are valued because of the relationship they have built up with clients and the regular work that they generate. If you are bringing regular work into your company then maybe you need to make sure you have a salary and a position in the company to match. Maybe if your employer doesn't appreciate your value then you can move elsewhere and take your client with you. |
