We are seeing this precise set of observations and complaints as a spreading phenomenon now. It would behoove Americans to determine the source of this set of ideas, as they are surely indicative of an unfortunate alienation, a deep distrust of American society on the part of one subset of that society. (I would hate to think that churches or religious organizations -- or radio or television televangelists ? -- would propagate such sentiments, but it may be so.)

It might also be productive to trace the ancestors of these sentiments in other periods of human history, as a way of gauging where we are going and what might be ahead. . .

Teaching "intelligent design" to high school biology students violates laws prohibiting the endorsement of religion in public schools, a federal judge ruled Tuesday. The ruling in Pennsylvania is a major defeat for proponents of the controversial alternative theory about the origins of life.

The only people who normally restrict freedom are the conservatives who claim to preserve it.


Of course, one could not expect a secular society which has turned it's back on the possibility of the existence of God to endorse teaching anything but atheism in it's schools.

Americans are fairly religious not as extreme as some countries though. I doubt there are very many atheist around. America has always made some effort to separate church and state.

Seems now that the charade of ridiculing other camps has turned into a blah blah blah of "let's find out where this race of alien conservatives has his origin from"..... sounds more like a secular inquisition, if there is such a thing...... or a blah blah blah of ridicule.....

Ya, right. I can see there all kinds of rumors spreading around on these sites, and a tendency to look for any way possible to ridicule those with other points of view.

And the chris said he has indeed analyzed other points of views in relation to the fallacies of science, by having pointed out the article in the first place. What type of reasoning is this. This is no reasoning at all, considering the fact that you pointed out the article and now do not subscribe to the views presented there..... In any event, I am not referring to the content in that article, but rather to really considering other scientific views such as intelligent design and scientific creationism, which are science, yet since the bias of secular atheist schools is against any mentioning of god, we might as well throw out our constitution. They people no longer have a right to mention the name of god which appears in god we trust, on our money and is part of the heritage of this nation. It should be the people who should decide what can be taught in schools, not secular courts, which will always desire a separation of church and state and therefore rule against the wishes and desires of it's people and their beliefs....

With that in mind, I have had enough of these forums, as I realize there is a definite bias towards a particular line of thinking that would attempt to squelch opposing views by means of mass persuasion, rather then by sensible reason, which they so proclaim to support.

Awesome! My son visited an old barn with me the other day. A farmer and boatbuilder owns the barn. It was a church to me.
