I'm having trouble adding a texture to Design Workshop Windows 2000 version. I was advised to open the DW Material Prefs file in a text editor, such as WordPad. In the View menu, Options command click the View tab in the dialog that appears. You will see a check box that says "Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types that are registered". If this box is checked, uncheck it.
I don't see any "Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types that are registered"
I've tried to add a texture to the texture file without success.
Any suggestions? |

Dale,
To clarify the View menu Options part is done in Windows Explorer, or whatever it is called these days, not in WordPad. Furthermore Microsoft seems to change the way this is done with each version of Windows.
For Windows 2000 I believe you go to the Tools menu and choose Folder Options. Then click the View tab. Finally there should be a checkbox for "Hide file extensions for known file types". This should be unchecked.
Once that is done you should change the name of the "DW Material Prefs" file to "DW Material Prefs.txt" then open it in WordPad, make your changes, and save the file. Then you should change the name of the file back to "DW Material Prefs".
Best wishes,
