Periodically we get emails from ArchitectureWeek subscribers who are having difficulty viewing the full-size images on the site. If you are able to login successfully, and see broken image icons the most likely culprit is Norton Internet Security.
ArchitectureWeek makes sure the page requesting the full-size image is a legitimate ArchitectureWeek page. To do this we read the referrer data passed by your web browser. If you are using Norton Internet Security the referrer data may be being blocked. There are very few practical reasons to block referrer data, none of which apply to ArchitectureWeek.
You can disable this "feature" for ArchitectureWeek and leave it on for other sites by performing the following steps:
1. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. In Norton Internet Security/Norton Personal Firewall 2004, double-click Privacy Control, and then click Advanced. Or in Norton Internet Security/Norton Personal Firewall 2003, click Options > Internet Security or Personal Firewall, and then click the Web Content tab.
3. Click Add Site. A new site/domain box appears.
4. Enter www.ArchitectureWeek.com and click OK. The site name appears in the left frame of the Options window.
5. Click the name of the new site.
6. Click the Global Settings tab.
7. In the "Information about visited sites" section, clear "Use default settings."
8. Click Permit.
9. Click OK to close the Options window.
Please let us know if you are unable to see the large images and this tip did not help.
Best wishes,
Mike Wheeler
