Ceramic Cements, are low embodied and high strength. They can also be mixed with post industrial fly ash and recycled aggregates making them the ideal concrete. The only problem is cost, it is very expensive compared to portland. Ceramic Cements are a mixture of magnesium oxide and potassium phosphate, They remain expensive becuase no one is producing it on the level portland is produced. I have been using this system for about six years fabricating sinks, countertops and other architectual stone work. Its great for these added value products, plus they are products we are living off every day, Portland Cement is an energy sucker, just ask anyone who has to work on a concrete floor all day, its extremely draining.

Also there is hope for ceramic cements becoming cheaper in the future, there is a lot of post industrial magnisium oxide and phosphates waste that can potentially be recycled into cement. Its a matter of someone putting this all together, it would still need to be processed to some degree but at a fraction of the embodied energy of Portland. Potentially a 100% recycled cement thats stronger, cheaper, and CO2 absorbing.
