I like to design my own furniture at home but I don't want to go through the trouble of learning AutoCad or a full CAD application. Couple of my friends at aquabot do know how to work on the application but it’s a bit complicated I heard. I want to 'draw' my own chairs, desks, cabinets, in 3D. What software would you recommend I use?

I would say there are many factors to consider, do the hardware you plan to use make models for there standard products like hidges clasps handels etc.

Also you may have to get nitty and gritty no program is going to do everything for you you'll have to learn it.

my advise: Rhinoceros , as i know some furniture/sculpture makers who use it.

a quick search finds this: http://boards.core77.com/viewtopic.php?t=9104

Very Intuitive to learn my sister uses it at 11

YOu really must see www.sketchlist.com.
It's CAD for furniture but more - it does things like joinery, and cut optimzation diagrams.

I think it's not released yet - but still take a look................................................................
