Hi! I am new to this forum and can greatly use some help. I want to paint my house. I love the beach but cannot go very often so I thought I would create a beach theme at home. I cannot seem to choose a good exterior color scheme! Every place I look online seems to take me to the interior. I was thinking a pale yellow with a light blue trim and dark blue doors and shutters. Everytime I pick colors out and hold them next to each other they look bad. No one at Home Depot or Lowe's paint departments seems to know as much as I do (which is very little) about beach colors. Please help! My house is a 2-story box. I will upload a picture if someone tells me how.
Thanks so much!

I thnk that you have established a challenge for yourself as the colors which look right at the seashore will look out of place in the interior. The quality of light is not the same at all and the brighter colors facades are able to take at the shore will look garish elsewhere. Some items which evoke a shore feeling would be landscaping with crushed shells if you can find them or white stone if you cannot. Nothing says 'at the beach" like this element. Stark white trim and sea gull gray siding can work well for locations away from the water. Try that color combo and set it all into motion by painting the front door a fantastic medium teal blue. Accessorize with brass door knockers in oyster shell motif, voila...beach house.
Best,
Rodd
