I want to pick an object and know which layer it's on,and be able to instantaneously switch to that layer using the GoTo button. I can't do that any more!
When I reviewed the beta versions of PC8, I was unaware that the Status window was omitted in any of these.
Since I cannot load this into PC8 using the Loader, I'd like to know from ES when they intend to restore this feature- or its equivalent.

I, too, would like to have the Status Window back. Right now, I need to look all over the screen to see all the items that I used to see in the Status Window with one quick glance.
Whether or not the Status Window comes back, I'd like to be able to change the drawing's scale without going to Drawing Setup -- if the scale is to remain in the Toolbar, I'd like to be able to change it there.
regards,
patrick

In PC8 you can see the layer in wich the object is selecting the object and looking at Edit Window (if you not see the layer name expand the edit window down)
If you want to jump to layer in wich there are the object control-click of click with the right mouse button and select from contextual menu got to - nice flowers - (where - nice flowers - is the name of the layer)

In reply to the Subject of the 'Status Window' I actually don't miss it at all. I'm not saying that the relocation of the information that used to be in the Status window is all good, but I almost never used it. Yes, the info is now spread out, but it is not more poorly organized in my opinion.
Drawing scale, for the active layer, is displayed in the toolbar if you have it open, the layer of the object selected is in the Edit window, if you have it open (and I suspect we almost all do) and zoom percent is kind of irrelevant to me; more important is what I see on the screen.
Aside Here: the mouse wheel zoom is the biggest problem with PCADD. I can't believe they can't, or won't, make it as good as programs 10 years old. But this is for another post.
But my other work arounds, if you are interested:
I made hot keys for show - hide WYSIWYG line weights F5
edit all layers, on or off is now F6
and most valuable, the key 4 is a hot key for WT 'find layer'.
Hover over an object and the layer appears in a little yellow box (yes with a bit of delay), or press '4', double click on an object and there you are.
That system seems to do it all for me. If you really want the status window and can get it back, great. I would personally not go back from the way V8 handles this information. And no, it is not perfect in V8.

| I just want the "Go To" button back. Put it in the Edit window or on the main toolbar, I don't really care as long as it's easy to get to. The issue is that the "control-click object that's already selected, scroll down to the bottom of the contextual menu to activate the layer" process is much clumsier than just clicking a button. The WT Find Layer Tool is also not ideal, since it deactivates the tool you're using, and you have to re-click on the object whose layer you want to go to.

I don't even see the scale display in the toolbar, but then I can't find most things with both hands!

That did work. It's just a lot easier to click a button than it is to right-click a mouse and pick from a drop-down menu.
