Is there a good architecture forum out there? I have searched but keep ending up here. This one has a hideous rip-off design and seems completely unmoderated.

Welcome, Phil!
- The forum follows a simple standard design for usability.
Thoughtful and elegant enhancements to the forum design are certainly welcome.
- Moderation is ongoing, professional, and aims for a light touch.
We do occasionally take off a few hours, and as the site gets around half a million monthly visitors (currently), it attracts a lot of spam. The adaptive automatic filtering system only catches so much.
- Ultimately, the forum is a collaborative creation - the intertwining synergy of many conversations and perspectives.
Over time, to al large extent, what you give is what you get. Positive attitude tends to raise all our drifting boats... |

I dislike overly moderated forums but ppb2 has a a ton of moderators if that is your thing. _________________ Chris Stewart

Geez, that sounds like a definition of architecture, eh maybe.
I should take notes. _________________ n/a |

| I got banned after my original post, moderation seems to be working. But wanted to add that the advertising seems very intrusive on this site. It looks like a thread starter posts a big advertisement in their own post. Archinect is very classy- some thought was actually put into the design. |

That is funny, I got banned from a forum for using the term "crappy joinery" and advising the poster to "strive for perfection but be willing to settle for half-assed" regarding architecture. _________________ n/a |

What's a "drifting boat"?
Are boat builders smarter than architects?
This forum has allowed me to blaze a path to "there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Leading to the answer, yes there is.
Have a nice day _________________ n/a |

what an excellent thread - this guy turns up just to say that he doesn't like it here; Kevin - ever the Diplomat - welcomes him with great politeness and suggests a positive attitude, while at the same time shoving him out of the door.
the guy climbs in through the window to tell us that there are even more reasons why he would prefer to be elsewhere.
"Are boat builders smarter than architects?" - would you sail in a boat designed by an architect ? _________________ Richard Haut has worked with the architectural profession for over 25 years and produces the weekly Richard Haut's Competitions, which has given architects details of many thousands of projects for which they can apply across Britain and Europe. |

That would depend on how good of boat designer the architect is. Designing boats isn't rocket science. Any intelligent person who set's their mind to designing an excellent boat ought to be able to figure it out -particularly with the excellent modern tools and information available.
I guess I would have to judge each boat independently to determine it's sea worthiness. _________________ Chris Stewart
