Hi,

As part of my concept for my latest design module at uni i wanted to create an architecture that 'moves.' in the sense that it may ripple in the wind, through a compression/decompression idea in my head that i can best describe as a series of bike chains linked together under tension. with the wind acting upon it to make it ripple.

The idea for the concept was to create something that would appear differently each time and suggest it is alive-as an aim for the project is to bring life back to the site.

I have also started to think about materials that could change appearance dependant on weather conditions, although im slightly wary of using 'smart materials' -was looking for something more natural and affordable!

I wondered whether anyone had any links to projects that have tried to achieve something similar, or suggestions of materials etc.

...basically im struggeling with research into this!! i have tried to read 'reflexive architecture' which seems to be the only book in my library that has any link to it, but it was beyond me in all honesty!!

hope you guys can help cheers. Wink

Check out Wes Jones - he has a fascination with moving architecture. He has various books published and has been featured in various others.

Jennifer Siegal also does moving architecture.
