I for one am happy with the resurrection of the Status Window an now implemented. I agree with ES that different scales are best handles in layers, and I never used the Status Window to change scales. What I did miss was the nudge amount and the zoom factor. No complaints from me! _________________ Mac Pro, 9 Gig RAM,

I disagree Rolando, Scales need to be handled simply as we wish.

I'm curious, why would you want to have different scales on the same layer? Otherwise, it doesn't seem to me that it's that much trouble to set the scale for a layer once and be done with it. _________________ Mac Pro, 9 Gig RAM,

My issue is more with the inability to quickly change the drawing scale on the fly. I do a lot of work importing site plans, and sometimes do a "select all", "change scale", then 'paste special" several times until I find the appropriate scale.
It used to be that the change drawing scale could be done with the drop-down menu in the Status Window, but now it involves several steps and opening up the drawing setup dialog.
Not a huge deal, but why remove something that was so convenient for some of us? |

Maybe the Status Window could be altered similar to an 'Edit All Layers' check box. But this would give us the option to change scales within a layer, for those of us that want to, or turn it off so you can't change scale in a layer, for those of you that don't want to.

Why make it more complicated? Scale layers is fine, although I think adding "1:48.000000" to a layer name is absurd.
If I am doing a sheet of details. I MIGHT want layers for the parts of the details, but why have to make a new set of layers for the scales on the sheet. Keep it simple. All everyone is saying let me change the scale quickly.
Maybe it is not so important to have ease of use. We could also require color and linetype by layer. _________________ Peter B |
