| My sister is studying architecture in Colombia(South America) and she will be tranferring to the US or Europe(Spain) to finish her studies. her current laptop(HP) needs to be replaced becuase of the RAM but she is trying to figure out what is the best laptop for architecture considering a architecture student budget, what I mean is what is the best deal considering performance; using programs like autocad or availability to upgrade and connectivity and price etc. She is not looking to spend more than $1200 US. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Well 1200$ is not a huge budget
But if you get a good student deal, I would definitely go for a macbook pro! |

Mac is a better machine, simppler to use, but the software is expensive and some times hard to come by, an HP or Toshiba with lost of RAM, be shure you get a Pentium processor, specially if she is going to do 3D, There are good buys and software is easy to come buy and less expensive.
AutoCAD is very expensive, but there are many clones for a fraction of the autoCAD price, just as capable and simple to learn and use.
Toshiba Satellite A205-S5852 Laptop Computer - Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2370 1.73GHz, 802.11b/g Wireless, 2GB DDR2, 200GB HDD, DL DVDRW, 15.4" WXGA, Webcam, Windows Vista Home Premium

I have a Satellite tablet , once you go TabletPC you never go back. the input is just too organic to do anything else. _________________ The most necessary/useful piece of learning is that which unlearns what is untrue: 'evil'

Sony overpriced but some nice multimedia bloat ware features if you are into video and audio editing
HP too many have died(hardware malfunction) that i know so i say stay away from them.
i picked Toshiba because of the quality to cost ratio
and they sell the most worldwide
make sure you get something that is downgradable and has drivers for supporting XP is another advise _________________ The most necessary/useful piece of learning is that which unlearns what is untrue: 'evil'
