Pioneer Productions have been commissioned to make a major new series about extreme houses. We are currently searching for 78 of the worlds most awesome and outrageous homes.

These can vary from cutting edge design to far fetched homes. The sky is the limit, the only criteria are that it’s got to be incredible and lived in.

If you can think of any suitable homes we’d appreciate your ideas.

Thanks for your help.

Lizzie

Research the Lustron type homes of the late 40's, built entirely out of steel, shipped in 3000 pieces on a special designed truck and were truely an engineering marvel. Never a house built like this before, nor, as it turns out, was there ever again a house like the Lustron.

Constructed entirely of STEEL, the modest ranches were entrepreneur Carl Strandlunds answer to the severe housing shortage plagued the country at the end of World War II. We've come a long way since this far fetched suburban ranch design:

Would enjoy seeing how incredible this beauty would appear all dressed up on the plasma screen of today Shocked

The World's Most Extreme Homes will be transmitted on HGTV - America's largest network station.

Thanks so much for your suggestion Donald. I'll look into it as it sounds like an interesting story.

Hi Lizzie - I'm researching a book which will cover some of your territory. Perhaps we should compare notes in a few days? When will your programme be broadcast? Best, Jonathan.

In response to the suggestion to feature the Lustron homes in the Extreme Home telecast, I just wanted to contribute that there is a Lustron home in Raymond, IL, N McGown & N E Street which is a hybrid that combined 2 Lustron homes into one full residence. I have not seen it myself, but live in St. Louis where one of the Lustrons was relocated from for the modified new structure.

This might be a suitable candidate to highlight both the unique Lustron construction, as well as one that was modified in an equally innovative way...

Glad to see its being produced on the HGTV...which I sincerely believe is one program that educates people on the value of good design. So my next question would be, to you Lizzie, is how can we architects take advantage of the HGTV data base of "potential" clients Idea that hit your web site or are programmed into your channel every week?
