Private stalls are not enough as I have tried using them for over 25 years. AIA may be a club, yet they must comply with IBC and ADA for example. Many architects argue instead of trying to learn how to fix this problem with communal restrooms. Necessity is the mother of invention, and my web site shows how to design private restroom cheaper than communal (after I can change ADA, hopefully). |
Paruresis, your webpage doesn't appear to be working, apprently it has been disabled, is this more censorship? you must have posted some pretty fiery remarks to get dumped on here as well as your own homepage...
[may I suggest: leave only the bald facts, add no emotion/adjectives to your posts, and they can't justifiably remove you.]
in reference to your comments on airport toilets ('restrooms' for coy ears ), I understand a major factor in their design is allowing luggage carts inside, which requires vast circulation space, communal facilities seem to be more efficient in this situation.
I'm confused by your idea that stalls use less space than an open urinal, I'd like to see details of how that would work -- could you provide a floorplan to explain.
while most men feel uncomfortable doing their business in a crowded room, hygiene seems a bigger concern -- I always shy away from the prospect of my neighbour inadvertently spraying me with a fine mist, whilst I'm unzipped... but maybe the whole communal urinal issue is being addressed in the wrong way -- as Jane said, women's toilets are a bigger problem, that could be effectively dealt with by use of a similar communal urinal concept. |
