Threat to filibuster in US Senate

A commentator recently asserted that the hopes, of those seeking restraint of the current reactionary tide in Washington, rest with Justices David Souter and Sandra Day O'Conner, and the use of the filibuster in the Senate, which is currently under threat by the Republican leadership, over the issue of White House federal judicial nominees.
