Dear Deborah Killian,

Good to speak with you just now. I've heard from other sources, too, that the next proposed addition to Braewood involves some pristine, beautiful, and important green space.

For the short term, focusing on your presentation to the development hearing, I hope you can get some support in the Churchill Area Neighbors, who directly represent the area you're concerned about. I'm sure people in the Amazon Headwaters group, and the Southeast Neighbors, will also be happy to help share experiences.

To help get the word out, I'd like to invite you to post any information and ideas you think will be of general interest to the Southeast Neighbors and Nature Project Forum, online at:

http://neighbors.DesignCommunity.com/sen_forum.html

For a little longer term, I hope you can provide some input on the Braewood site(s) to the Citizens Nature Project, which is organizing grassroots input to the metro Natural Resources Study. Check out our home page at:

http://www.NatureProject.org

And please keep us posted on your progress.

Best wishes,

Kevin

| I read with excitement (explained later) about the project that was turned
| down in the southeast hills. I called Mr. Fodor to ask about it and he
| sent me some material that included an email you sent out. Hence, my
| writing to you.
|
| I live at the end of 29th street off of City View Street. The Natural
| Resource Study has declared this area a wildlife zone (E35). In addition,
| Viedra Creek and two wetlands run through this area. Granted, the creek
| isn't much, especially this time of year.
|
| Recently, Cuddeback submitted plans for Braewood Hills 3rd Addition. The
| plan is for a 163 lot development on 78 acres. It covers the entire E35
| off of 29th. You might recall some years back when Don Bishoff was still
| writing his column and the negative comments he made regarding the top of
| the hill between 29th and Lassiter. This is Braewood Hills 2nd Addition.
| The trees are virtually gone from the hillside. Partly due to his own
| removal, and partly because some of the lots are so small that the trees
| have to go in order to accommodate homes.
|
| 3rd Addition will be the fourth Braewood of Cuddeback's. None have any
| parks, wildlife corridors, or anything friendly to the environment. He has
| already demonstrated his total disregard for the land in the previous
| developments.
|
| I have been working to put together material for the hearing in opposition
| to this development. I posted notices on the doors of most of my neighbors
| on 29th (traffic will become a nightmare). I am studying the Land Use Code
| 2000 for significant material. While many of my neighbors are in
| agreement, it is just me.
|
| I need help. At the very least I need to pick your brain. I understand
| that the hearings official is not the most sympathetic individual so I must
| have as much ammunition as possible. Ironically, the hearing, originally
| scheduled for August 2, was postponed. I talked to the planner in charge,
| Kevin Young, and it seems that the article about your victory rattled Mr.
| Cuddeback. He postponed the meeting to possibly reevaluate his original
| plans. This is good, because it gives me more time.
|
| My phone number is 485-4992. I would love to hear from you.
|
| Thanks. Deborah Killian
