Friends of Tugman – April 2025 Report

The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).

We held three volunteer work events at Tugman Park in April:  4/2, 4/16 & 4/30

  • April 2nd highlights:  weeded natively planted beds; monitored progress in the Wet Meadow Restoration Plot in the park’s north end (planted 11/9/24); picked up trash park-wide
  • April 16th highlights:  spread wood chip mulch in several central park areas (around trees and in beds); weeded natively planted beds; trimmed grass around the former spray play area; picked up trash park-wide
  • April 30th highlights:  weeded natively planted beds; trimmed grass in numerous locations; enhanced the flagging of recently planted willow plugs along Tugman Creek in advance of the Nearby Nature Bioblitz and Newt Count activities on 4/26; picked up trash park-wide
  • On April 17th a subset of the Tugger Team monitored and recorded observations in the Upper Prairie Restoration Plot on the park’s south slope near Fawn Lily Rise
  • The Tugger team continues to recruit “vegetation removal” volunteers from the team roster to assist the SEN Transportation Committee’s Spring Sidewalk Clean-Up event happening on May 10th.
  • Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events for May 2025 are:  5/14 & 5/28 (10:00 am – 12 noon).
