Friends of Tugman – January 2025 Report

The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).

  • We held two volunteer work events at Tugman Park in January:  1/8 & 1/22
  • January 8th highlights:  reconstructed tree rings around recently planted trees along Tugman Creek due to high water flow from Dec/Jan rains; prepared the fifth “willow plugging” zone for planting in the north creek area by digging and removing blackberry vines; cut, stripped, and removed ivy from mature trees along Tugman Creek; dug out and removed invasive Cyclamen from the south creek area; picked up trash park-wide
  • January 22nd highlights:  plugged willows in the fifth planting zone along Tugman Creek in the north creek area; plugged willows in an additional sixth zone across the creek from the fifth zone in the north creek area; dug and removed numerous blackberry plants from the northern end of the park; weeded the NE corner parking strip (along street at corner of E. 36th Ave. & Hilyard St.); chopped blackberry vines along the park’s border in the SE area; picked up trash park-wide
  • We held a Tugger social event on Tuesday evening 1/14 @ Xicha Brewing (Amazon Corner) whereby (13) team members, family and friends gathered to share each other’s company
  • Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events for February 2025 are:  2/5 & 2/19 (10:00 am – 12 noon).
