Friends of Tugman – June 2025 Report
The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).
- We held two volunteer work events at Tugman Park in June: 6/11 & 6/25
- June 11th highlights: weeded natively planted beds in north end; dug blackberry vines along creek in north end; monitored progress in the Wet Meadow Restoration Plot in the park’s north end (planted 11/9/24); picked up trash park-wide
- June 25th highlights: spread wood chip mulch for grass suppression and moisture retention around all newly planted trees along Tugman Creek (planted Dec 2024) as well as other miscellaneous native trees in the natural areas; weeded with string trimmer along the main southern pathway
- A subset of the Tugger team irrigated trees, shrubs, ferns, and forbs several times in June.
- A subset of the Tugger team met with P&OS personnel to monitor progress of the Tugman Creek Planting Project (planted Dec 2024) and discussed next steps to mitigate future damage and re-plant as necessary.
- Monitoring of the Wet Meadow Restoration Plot in the park’s north end (planted Nov 2024) continued in June and an updated report was submitted on July 1st.
- Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events for July 2025 are: 7/9 & 7/23 (10:00 am – 12 noon).
