Friends of Tugman – March 2025 Report
The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).
- We held two volunteer work events at Tugman Park in March: 3/5 & 3/19
- March 5th highlights: removed invasive species (ivy, vinca, Portuguese laurel, Cyclamen) from trees and ground along and adjacent to Tugman Creek; monitored progress in the Wet Prairie Restoration Plot in the park’s north end (planted 11/9/24); initiated spring weeding in our native planted areas; picked up trash park-wide
- March 19th highlights: prepared ground and mulched areas in the NE portion of the park; weeded in our native planted areas in the park’s north end; picked up trash park-wide
- Several Tugger team members participated in the Friends of Trees – Winter Tree Walk event on 3/8 in SE Eugene. This event included a walk through the north end of Tugman Park whereby an update of Tugger activities occurred.
- The Tugger team is recruiting “vegetation removal” volunteers from the team roster to assist the SEN Transportation Committee’s Spring Sidewalk Clean-Up event happening on May 10th.
- Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events for April 2025 are: 4/2, 4/16 & 4/30 (10:00 am – 12 noon).
