Friends of Tugman – May 2025 Report
The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).
- We held two volunteer work events at Tugman Park in May: 5/14 & 5/28
- May 14th highlights: weeded natively planted beds; trimmed grass around the former spray play area, lampposts, and border areas; monitored progress in the Wet Meadow Restoration Plot in the park’s north end (planted 11/9/24); picked up trash park-wide
- May 28th highlights: spread wood chip mulch for weed suppression in the central park and north end areas; weeded natively planted beds; trimmed grass around the former spray play area, lampposts, and border areas; mulched and irrigated several newly planted natives in north end; picked up trash park-wide
- On May 20th P&OS personnel placed an Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) trap in a mature Oregon Ash tree in the south end of the park’s creek/natural area. The trap is one of ten supplied by the Oregon Dept. of Forestry (ODF) to P&OS to be placed in Eugene. These traps will be monitored for adult EAB fliers at 8 weeks and 16 weeks post placement (approx. mid July & early September).
- Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events for June 2025 are: 6/11 & 6/25 (10:00 am – 12 noon).
