Friends of Tugman – May 2026 Report
The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other week somewhere in Tugman Park. We typically meet on Wednesdays and/or select weekend dates from 10:00 am – 12 noon. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).
- We held (2) volunteer work events at Tugman Park in May: May 9th & May 27th
- May 9th highlights: weeded numerous native plant beds; string trimmed grasses and emerging blackberries in several locales; picked up trash park-wide
- May 27th highlights: weeded numerous native plant beds and in the Wet Meadow Restoration Plot; string trimmed and dug out emerging blackberries and bed borders; string trimmed numerous (9) trees along the Fawn Lily Rise pathway and E. 39th Ave.; picked up trash park-wide
- Several ad hoc volunteer endeavors occurred whereby additional weeding and invasive plant species removal occurred
- A request was made to the SEN Board for a contribution of $250 from SEN funds to support the procurement of native plants for the next section of the Wet Meadow Restoration Plot to be planted this fall. This request will be discussed (and possibly voted on) at the SEN Board meeting on Tues. 6/2
- Our regularly scheduled Wednesday and Sunday volunteer work events for June, July, & August 2026 are: Sun. 6/7, Wed. 6/24, Sun. 7/5, Wed. 7/22, Sun. 8/2, Wed. 8/19, & Sun. 8/30 (all times 10:00 am – 12 noon)
