Friends of Tugman – September 2025 Report

The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).

  • We held two volunteer work events at Tugman Park in September:  9/3 & 9/17
  • September 3rd highlights:  spread wood chip mulch around numerous north end native plants and central lawn tree rings; spot weeded and prepped the central park area for the SEN Annual Picnic; picked up trash park-wide
  • September 17th highlights:  removed debris dams from Tugman Creek; spot weeded; picked up trash park-wide
  • A subset of the Tugger Team met with Kelsey Irvine (P&OS Volunteer Coordinator) on 9/11 @ Tugman Park to discuss potential future upgrades for the central park area including the former spray play area. More details will be shared once the P&OS plan is more developed.
  • Tugman Park once again served as the venue for the successful SEN Annual Picnic on Saturday, 9/13. Many thanks to the Tugger team for preparing the park beforehand and assisting with logistics (set-up & take-down) as well as participating at the picnic.
  • Recruitment for additional volunteers continues with potential involvement from members of the Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance (CCBA), formerly Lane Audubon. CCBA has expressed interest in volunteering with us at Tugman. They have been included in our upcoming events communications.
  • Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events for October 2025 are:  10/1 & 10/29 (10:00 am – 12 noon). We will move our typical Wednesday, 10/15, work event to Sunday, 10/12, to accommodate additional volunteers to assist in the next steps of our north end Wet Meadow Restoration project.
