Friends of Tugman – July 2024 Report
The Friends of Tugman (aka The Tuggers) typically meet every other Wednesday from 10:00 am – 12 noon somewhere in Tugman Park. Exact time and park location is dependent on weather conditions and current project(s).
- We held two regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work events in July: 7/10 & 7/24
- July 10th highlights: prepared the ground and mulched in the northeast corner of the park (E. 36th Ave. & Hilyard St.); additionally mulched and irrigated the newly planted trees and rushes around the former spray play area; weeded several of the tree rings in the central lawn; picked up trash park-wide
- July 24th highlights: continued weeding and mulched the tree rings in the central lawn; irrigated the native trees and rushes in the former spray play area as well as other native planted beds; pruned blackberry vines along the park’s south border; picked up trash park-wide
- Several tuggers irrigated native planted beds and trimmed troublesome foliage (e.g. willows over bridges and pathways & blackberry vines along south border) numerous times in July outside of our regularly scheduled volunteer work events.
- Our regularly scheduled bi-weekly Wednesday volunteer work event for August 2024 is: 8/21 (10:00 am – 12 noon). We will not have a work event on Wednesday, 8/7.
