Help FOOD for Lane County fight hunger in April

Throughout the month of April, FOOD for Lane County is asking Lane County residents to participate in a survey about hunger. FFLC and our partners track the number of people who access food assistance, but these numbers don’t tell the stories about why people need help with food, or what we could be doing better to feed our neighbors.

Please help us fight hunger by completing this short survey! It’s only 25 questions and should take about 10 minutes.

ALL survey responses are anonymous!

If you would like to participate in the gift card drawing you will be redirected to a new page upon completion of the survey.

Community Safety listening sessions scheduled

The Eugene City Council wants to hear from community members about community safety needs as they finalize funding priorities for the Community Safety Payroll Tax. In addition to an online survey (open through March 31), Eugeneans can attend virtual meetings this month to share their perspective on the Community Safety Initiative (CSI) strategy and approach. Both meetings will follow the same format, and will be recorded and available for viewing after their scheduled times to increase access to information:

  • Wednesday, March 24, 12-2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 30, 6-8 p.m.

Both meetings can be accessed at this link, and require the passcode CSI-2021

“We want to hear from our community through these public meetings and the survey, and our hope is that having a variety of ways in which people can participate will make it easier for our communities of color to share their perspectives,” said Kevin Alltucker, Community Safety Initiative Project Manager. “Hearing from communities of color on this issue is important at this critical moment in the community conversation around race, policing and public safety, and this effort will help to ensure the needs and priorities of undeserved members of our community are reflected in the Community Safety Initiative.”

The City is doing culturally specific outreach with a Spanish language version of the survey to our mono-lingual Spanish speaking community.

Results of the listening sessions, along with input from focus groups, public comment, and the survey will help inform the Council as it considers any adjustments to CSI funding. A summary report of the information collected will be submitted to Council for review and discussion at a work session currently scheduled for May 2021.

Lane County Lowered to Moderate Risk Category - Begins Friday, March 12
Oregon’s Risk and Protection Framework uses data to help inform safety measures at the county level. Every two weeks, Governor Kate Brown’s office announces the revised risk status of each county based on current data. Lane County has lowered into the moderate risk category for the two-week period beginning March 12. With the reduced risk level comes new guidance including what is allowed for indoor activities such as dining, gyms, entertainment establishments and faith institutions. See Oregon Health Authority’s guidance for activities at each risk level.

A typical residential customer will pay $3 per month for the next 60 months.

EWEB also described how two new tanks at the 40th and Patterson site fit into the city-wide Water Storage Improvement Projects at the March 9 Southeast Neighbors general meeting (starting about the 42 minute mark).
